A local teenager got a one-of-a-kind opportunity at Maxwell Air Force Base.MONTGOMERY, Ala. - While Maxwell Air Force base was in full preparation mode Friday for the weekend’s Beyond the Horizon Air and Space Show, personnel also took time to give a local teenager a one-of-a-kind opportunity.
Harrison is a junior at JAG High School. She has lived most of her life with sickle cell anemia, an inherited disease that affects red blood cells and cause severe pain.“I was happy, scared, but excited at the same time because I get to be a commander for a day and be a pilot for a day so I get to do everything plus more,” the teen said.
