Liverpool have requested to receive the VAR audio from Saturday’s controversial defeat to Tottenham Hotspur
Liverpool have made a formal request to the PGMOL to receive the audio from Saturday’s controversial defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.
However, they intend to appeal the decision to dismiss the midfielder, who now faces a three-match ban after his initial yellow card for a foul on Yves Bissouma was upgraded after VAR review. It would later emerge that VAR Darren England and his assistant Dan Cook were not aware that the on-field decision was to disallow the goal for offside, in what has been described as a momentary lapse of concentration, and were then unable to intervene once play had restarted due to the laws of the game.
The club’s statement has split public opinion, with some taking issue with the strong-worded nature of Liverpool’s statement and the declaration that they would now, ‘explore the range of options available, given the clear need for escalation and resolution.’
