Two lanes have been shut off
on the southbound carriageway between junction 20 for the M56 Lymm Interchange and junction 19 for Knutsford, according to traffic alert service Inrix. Lanes one and two are closed.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 5.45am. Motorway cameras show queues building up to the incident this morning. There are severe delays, traffic services have said.A tweet posted by the North West Motorway Police said: "M6 southbound between j20 and j19 Highways and Police are dealing with an RTC - lanes 1 and 2 are currently blocked, we now have standing traffic."Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service posted at 7.
