Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont calls Houston 'butt ugly' after UConn national championship
Asked Wednesday on a New Haven radio show to describe the scene after“You walk around downtown Houston, which is butt ugly, not much there …,” the governor began, before the highly amused hosts cut him off.
Lamont eventually finished his sentence. “… Except for the UConn fans,” he said. “Everywhere you’d hear bouncing off of those big, empty walls, 'Let’s go UConn, UConn Huskies.'”“I’m sure we got some wires crossed about how incredible Houston is,” she said in the tweet, which was seen by nearly 10,000 people by 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
“Countless Houstonians worked for years to welcome tens of thousands of basketball fans, so we’re rightly surprised to learn of the governor’s remarks,” Larson said. “Like all major cities, we’re continuing to evolve and improve.”“Glad you’re back home safely,” Pena said.
