However, Benn twice tested positive for clomifene in two VADA drugs tests and so the bout was prohibited from happening just days before it was due to place.The defeated man then activated his rematch clause to force a second bout, but also re-entered talks to potentially reschedule his showdown with Benn.
However, Benn's drugs testing situation remains unresolved as his UKAD case is ongoing and so Eubank Jr has now decided to press ahead with the Smith rematch instead. Smith reacted: "I'm glad that the date is set now and we can look forward to getting rid of this itch that needs scratching. "I'm fully healed up now, injury-free, and I'm looking forward to finishing Chris Eubank Jr's career on September 2."
