Readers applauded Paxton’s detractors; railed against plastic pollution; noted a Trump ruling; berated Congress; recalled arena history; applauded raising teachers’ pensions; and remembered choosing schools ‘back when.’
The only way to work toward a more sustainable future is to reduce plastic production and consumption altogether. There is no magic cure to fix the consequences of plastic while our economy still relies on it. We need to pass bottle bills, plastic packaging taxes and policies that limit single-use plastics.Re: “Judge finds ex-president defrauded banks, insurers — Trump broke law by massively inflating net worth to reap financial benefits, ruling says,” Thursday news story.

Victory was, at that time, a Superfund site. A power plant had been located there. It was a costly, federally funded cleanup. Perot owned the land. He campaigned to get taxpayers to share the cost of the arena. His argument was, build this arena, and the area will develop around it. Property tax revenue will recoup the city’s investment. It’s the same argument made for the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge and for Klyde Warren Park.
