I can repeat often stated issues that have been tested and continue to conclude that young adults have rules and laws that are designed to keep them safer and those of us who interact with them safer, too. Take driving — 16 is the minimum age for someone to get a driver’s license and this is after taking driver education, taking a driving test, passing a driving exercise with a Texas state officer and carrying insurance. Plus drivers may not drink and drive.
Texas could recruit and keep more teachers if we offered a secure retirement, but we don’t. Last year alone, teachers took a giant cut in their buying power because of runaway inflation.
