One reader questions Rep. Trey Martinez Fischer’s definition of collegiality given his choice words for Republicans in 2014.Re: “Martinez Fischer is poised to take on the GOP in new role,” Front Page, Dec. 19:
Hypocrisy is alive and well. An example is the caption under the recent photo of state Rep. Trey Martinez Fischer with the comment that he “bemoans the loss of collegiality in the Texas Capitol in recent sessions.” This refers to the man who in 2014 called the GOP “Gringos y Otros Pendejos.” I suppose that’s his idea of collegiality.I moved to San Antonio in May. My family and I have visited downtown several times and enjoy it very much. However, a major disappointment has been watching horse-drawn carriages pull people around town, especially during this summer — the hottest in recent record.
Seeing this inhumane treatment has led us to not visit downtown as much. It’s saddening, and the smell of horse urine doesn’t help. The increased traffic congestion is also alarming. Making horses pull oversized loads in extreme weather conditions, dodging traffic while pounding pavement all day and night, is cruel. Many other tourist destinations have adopted pedicabs and e-carriages. The change is worth it.Assange is a criminalThe letter writer must not understand journalism.
His conviction wouldn’t impact the First Amendment. It would simply make folks aware that stealing is still illegal.
