The snake oil being sold by some Texas Republicans as “parental choice” is, in fact, a dangerous assault on public education. We already underpay our teachers and underfund our schools. Parents are free to make whatever choice they want about educating their children, but, please, do not ask me to pay for it at the expense of all children who rely on public schools to learn and grow.Let us hope that all the boorish, unhappy malcontents who seem to thrive and enjoy raining on everyone’s parade about anything and everything when it comes to horse-drawn carriages in San Antonio don’t go to Amish communities without giving them some warning.
