Recently, we had the misfortune of stumbling into the nightmare that is road repair in downtown San Antonio. Wow! What an absolute mess and discouragement to the people of San Antonio and visitors. I began to think I would never be able to escape all of the roadblocks and substandard roadways. I know there must be some grand plan, but couldn’t it be done more piecemeal and peacefully?Gregory A. As such, Roy suggested that cuts to Social Security, Medicare and defense spending need to be on the table, but that shouts of “pushing granny off the cliff” and “Chip, we need more defense funding” immediately ends those conversations. But Roy never acknowledges the revenue side of the equation as shrill cries of “No new taxes!” kills that conversation just as quickly.pay for things we like: highways, bridges, retirement, health care, education, national defense and so on.
But unfortunately, Roy’s fiscal “principles” always stop short of the other half of the elephant in the room.
