City Councilman Clayton Perry’s plea deal for a DWI is more of the same story of leniency in San Antonio, a reader asserts.Front Page, Saturday:
District 10 City Councilman Clayton Perry pleaded guilty to DWI, causing an accident and then fleeing the scene. As punishment he received probation, a very minimal fine and minimal community service. Looking at other reported DWIs and their punishments, it appears that unless you are a first responder or kill someone, you can drive drunk with impunity and if caught you’ll be let off with little or no punishments.
Where is this tightening up of the treatment of DWIs that was being talked about at the beginning of the year? This is not a good sign with Fiesta starting this week.Had to smile and roll my eyes with New York Times columnist Farhad Manjoo’s opinion piece. I’ve been around awhile and have seen this country do some amazing, important and relevant things. It did them without Twitter. Not sure I see it relevant except for gossip, lies and inane stuff for those umbilically connected to their phones.
