Environmental justice is a growing movement that exposes the unfair treatment of marginalized communities that are harmed by the exposure to hazardous waste and other hazards relating to growing industries in the community.
Exposure to hazardous waste, resource extraction and other land issues play a huge role in the health of the community. It's up to us to be aware and proactive and not let these issues happen. No one else knows our needs like we do, which is why voting in our local elections is extremely important. When redeveloping these areas, we must also take into consideration the harmful effects of gentrification. Everyone in our community should have a place to live and thrive.
Blue-collar workers are slowly losing housing in many areas due to limited affordable housing options. When new apartments cost too much, you aren't helping those in need. Allowing for a variety of housing options will attract more people and help boost the economy.
