Leeds United remain second in the table following another rollercoaster day in the Championship - and could go top if they beat Millwall next Sunday after both Ipswich Town and Leicester City dropped points.
Kieffer Moore's goal looked to have set Kieran McKenna's side on course for an away win, but there was incredible late drama as Cardiff scored twice in added time. Firstly, Ryan Wintle volleyed home after Ipswich failed to clear their lines on 95 minutes, before Callum O'Dowda scored a sensatonal winner in the 100th minute.
Southampton stormed into a two-goal lead over Sunderland, with Stuart Armstrong and then Adam Armstrong putting the Saints in control by half-time at St Mary's. The Blacks pulled one back in the hour mark, Romaine Mundle scoring his first goal for the club - before Jobe Bellingham levelled the scores. However, Southampton were soon back in front thanks to a quickfire double Joe Rothwell to restore their two-goal lead as they ran out 4-2 winners.
Leeds United are back in action next Sunday when they travel to face Millwall at the New Den . Before than, Ipswich host Sheffield Wednesday next Saturday, while Leicester City are in FA Cup action against Chelsea. Southampton's scheduled game is postponed due to the FA Cup.
