Leeds United find themselves 11 points adrift of Championship leaders Leicester City at present ahead of their trip to the King Power Stadium on November 3
Absolutely no one was surprised to see Leicester City pick up the win over Swansea City on Saturday afternoon. Swansea challenged the Foxes in South Wales but they were powerless to prevent the league leaders from leaving victorious, coming from behind to claim an eleventh three-point haul this season.
They deserve huge amounts of credit for the pace they’ve set, with Ipswich Town being the only side who have managed to remain within striking distance in the Championship table, and they currently sit 11 points above Leeds United, who are in third and leading the chase behind the top two. Even at this early point, it’s clear that it will take a drastic turnaround in fortunes for Leicester not to find themselves back in the Premier League next season.
But, the form they’ve started the season in surely cannot be considered sustainable. The Championship is too strong and demanding for Leicester to continue winning 11 out of every 12 games and as the campaign gathers pace, it seems sensible to predict that they’ll begin to drop more points. Leeds go to Stoke City on Wednesday night and expectations are such that nothing short of three points will be considered enough and the same can be said for Saturday’s match at Elland Road against local rivals Huddersfield Town, who have lost just one of their last eight games in the second tier.
