The crossing in Fielding Way, Morley, has been slammed as 'ridiculous'
Fury has erupted in Morley after new lamp posts residents had "waited weeks for" have been placed so close together that pedestrians have to "squeeze through".
The posts were previously placed further apart, but renovations have seen them moved much closer together. Leeds City Council has admitted the posts have been placed incorrectly.The incident has caused outrage on social media, and a number of residents have shared their frustration with Leeds Live. A 45-year-old resident said: "It is ridiculous. We have been waiting for the renovation and now people can't even use the crossing. What a joke. People are having to squeeze through.
Carol Wilson said: "'Somebody somewhere has made a massive error of judgement. I wouldn't like to have somebody lose their job but they need a good telling off." Another individual said: "Have to hope that it's fixed soon, before there are accidents from the people attempting to get around the area safely. Prams and pushchairs will have problems, wheelchairs and mobility scooters have no chance. My partner wouldn't even try it with my wheelchair, we'd both be bruised, before he gave up trying. No idea."
