In its usual commemorative fashion, Google found the time to honor James’ achievement with a sweet Easter egg for Google Search users. People who type “LeBron” or “LeBron James” into the search engine Wednesday will be treated to some digital confetti, complete with cartoon basketballs, backboards and crowns, in reference to his “King James” moniker. Once the confetti lands on the digital floor, a button pops up for anyone looking to keep the festivities going.
James scored 38 points Tuesday, while nabbing seven boards and dishing out three assists in a 133-130 loss against the Oklahoma City Thunder. He went into the night needing 36 points to break Abdul-Jabbar's scoring record of 38,387 points, which he did just before the third quarter ended. James has now scored 38,390 points over his two-decade career playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Miami Heat and the Lakers. It is likely that James will extend his record for a good while longer — he signed a two-year contract extension with the Lakers last fall and has said he feels like he can play for several years to come. But even if he were to retire tomorrow, it's still unlikely the record he set Tuesday will ever be broken.
As for Google, the tech company held a launch event for its new AI service Bard on Wednesday, so it's also keeping busy.
