'[U.S. EPA head Michael Regan] and defendant DeWine made a mockery of Ohio citizens by ceremoniously toasting a homeowner with water from her tap,” the lawsuit says.

CLEVELAND, Ohio – A lawsuit involving the East Palestine train derailment says Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine “made a mockery” of residents by toasting a homeowner with tap water days after the disaster in eastern Ohio.

Already, at least 15 lawsuits have been filed in federal court, many seeking class-action status to hold Norfolk Southern responsible for the damages to the community and its residents. Residents have long feared that the chemicals will seep into the water system, making it unsafe to drink. Dan Tierney, a spokesman for DeWine, said: “We generally do not comment on pending litigation. But we strongly disagree with the narrative of this lawsuit.”and The Plain Dealer reached out to the attorneys who filed the lawsuit, Eric McDaniel and Cameron Atkinson, for comment.
