The bulk of the state’s federal money — $750 million — will go to cities, counties and rural water associations as matching money for water and sewer infrastructure projects. Meanwhile, a historic state budget is poised to pass in the next few hours.

by Geoff Pender, Mississippi Today April 4, 2022 Legislators worked late Monday night to fund state government at an unprecedented level and also to spend the bulk of $1.8 billion in federal pandemic stimulus provided to Mississippi by Congress. The overall state support budget that has been agreed to by legislative leaders and is being rubberstamped by the full membership is expected to be $7.32 billion, or 9.2% more than what was appropriated for the current fiscal year.
