We tried Lancashire's posh Chinese restaurant visited by Usain Bolt and found the food is true champion
Usually when a restaurant is visited by a celebrity, it wouldn't particularly pique my interest or make me want to visit it over any other. But when the fastest man on earth and all round megastar Usain Bolt takes time out for a spot of Cantonese cuisine on the side of the A59, both eyebrows were firmly raised.
Executive chef Victor's menu is a blend of traditional dishes, dim sum, soups, 'small eats' and sides. It is both adventurous and safe, with Victor clearly knowing his audience. The chicken chow mein will never be beaten. You can just taste the expertise, respect for ingredients and time that has gone into it. It was also a busy, hearty portion.
I haven't ever gone to a Chinese restaurant or takeaway just for the dessert and I don't know anyone who has. But I would visit Yu again purely for that strawberry samosa . The pastry was light, audibly crunchy and sweet with the filling the consistency of stewed apple or rhubarb.
