Vogel says he and others in the organization are available to help the nine-time All-Star as he struggles with what he and his family have described as harassment.
HOUSTON — On Monday night, Russell Westbrook acknowledged he’s hurting.including what the 33-year-old star deemed harassment, has reached the point where he said he doesn’t want his family coming to games, even in L.A.
Westbrook pushed back earlier this week following a string of tweets by his wife, Nina Westbrook, asking for a change in the discourse around Westbrook, as well as saying she had received threats from fans. The Westbrooks in particular have taken issue with his taunting nickname “Westbrick,” which they believe “shames” the family name in an unacceptable way.
ESPN reported that Vogel has resisted internal pressure within the organization to bring Westbrook off the benchVogel said Wednesday that he still believes the Lakers can catch a rhythm – but they need Westbrook to catch a rhythm, too, and the best way to achieve that is to let the nine-time All-Star and former league MVP play his way out of his slump.
