By a 3-2 vote Tuesday, the Lake County Board’s Legislative Committee advanced a resolution to add support for an assault weapons ban to the board’s state and federal legislative advocacy agenda.

“Make no mistake, this committee will do everything in its power to apply every possible legislative approach to end this horrendous pandemic of violence, and to ensure that our public spaces are safe places,” Wasik said. Snarski said he would support mandating training before issuing FOID cards, noting it, “is extremely valuable, and required and needed,” but was not in favor of advocating for an outright ban of assault weapons.
