A 'lack of transparency' from the Scottish Government over youth work spending is putting vulnerable kids at risk, it has been warned
A 'lack of transparency' from the Scottish Government over youth work spending is putting vulnerable kids at risk, it has been warned.
Youth Link CEO Tim Frew told the Record: "There's no transparency around the data, we need a clearer picture on what is being spent and where it is going. When reports from Education Scotland come in, we're seeing that they're not able to tell us where the money is being spent across the board. Tim continued: "People are having to send in Freedom of Information requests or a working union is having to ask questions about spending before the numbers are made public. More clarity is needed. How can the Scottish Government expect youths to progress and thrive when there is no clear, locked budget and no benchmark?"
Our Kids Our Future "If we are not protecting these services then it will transfer into long-term negative impacts on young people and the wider society. It will affect those who need the services the most. “As a former youth worker, I know all too well what this means. Young people held back from their potential, an entire country missing out on the unrealised talent of thousands.
