Scottish Labour peer George Foulkes claims UK 'was never meant to be a union of equal partners'
George Foulkes said the idea that the UK is a union of equals is "a myth put around by the SNP".
Foulkes has argued that the Scottish Government has acted beyond its powers by getting civil servants to work on independence papers. "In each of them, I took part in what was their responsibilities at that time. We each have our own responsibilities but they're different. His comments provoked outrage from the SNP, who accused him of "saying the quiet part out loud".
