A former Labour MSP has accused the party of adopting "dog-whistle politics" after it shared a controversial advert attacking Rishi Sunak.
The advert was criticised by politicians from across the parties but Labour yesterday stood by its contents. Asked if he thought some people would support Labour's message on law and order, Findlay added: "For people like me who live in working class areas, we know the impact of crime on communities. No one needs to tell us.
"Labour should be focusing on the Tories' record over the last decade in which they have hammered communities and disregarded the impact of the cost of living crisis on ordinary people.Labour was also accused of a “vile and desperate” campaign strategy by Tory deputy chairman Lee Anderson and “cheapened and debased” politics by SNP MP John Nicolson. He said: "This is not the sort of politics a Labour Party, confident of its own values and preparing to govern, should be engaged in.
