The former Hibs man admits it's difficult to sum up his road to recovery in recent seasons.
Coughing and sneezing left him in agony. Just getting out of bed in the morning was a daily struggle.
As he prepared for today’s tie against the Hoops, Magennis said: “It’s difficult to sum up what I’ve been through. It was even more difficult because it was the same issue recurring. Operations, injections, nothing worked. But finally the last operation was a success and I’m feeling good after it. I’ve not had any issues since then.
“I tried to tell myself to just get through training. I would tell myself it wasn’t there – but it was. Initially, before the first operation, I had pain in both sides of my groin. After that my right side was fine but my left side was still giving me problems. When they did the last operation they said a nerve had been trapped – that’s why I was getting burning pains.
He said: “I showed glimpses of what I can do at Hibs. I had a spell of playing well. But obviously I wasn’t fit for enough games and ultimately that’s what killed it for me there. The difficult thing was I had confidence in my own ability.
