Kent police on Thursday arrested an 18-year-old man for an attempted armed home invasion robbery that occurred on Oct. 15.
Ring video shows a man and woman narrowly making it inside their Kent home as a gun-wielding suspect attempted to follow them inside around 1 a.m. on Oct. 15, 2023. Ring camera video shows the masked 18-year-old attempt to enter an Asian couple's home as the duo was barely able to shut and lock the door. The suspect then tried to force the door open before noticing the Ring camera. The suspect then used his firearm to break and remove the camera, the video shows.
KPD officials said the Ring camera video proved useful in identifying and locating the 18-year-old man.Men charged for south Seattle home invasions targeting Asian families appear in court “It is a credit to the commitment and expertise of our Detectives that has led to this great outcome today," said KPD Chief Rafael Padilla. "We want our community to know that this type of effort is what they can expect all the time."
Kent detectives said they're investigating the 18-year-old's possible involvement with other similar home invasion robberies in the area.
