Just six months after release from prison, Bay Area serial bank robbery is at it again, feds say
OAKLAND — A Bay Area man has been charged with robbing four banks around the East Bay, just six months after he was released from federal prison for a similar crime spree, court records show.
“There is no indication that Mr. LeBlanc will re-offend or that a lengthy sentence is necessary to contain him or remove him from society,” assistant public defender Elizabeth Falk wrote in a sentencing brief.This time around, prosecutors allege LeBlanc committed four separate robberies around the East Bay “on or about” Aug. 30, according to the indictment. They say he made off with a total of $778, including one robbery that only netted him $48 in cash, and one robbery that was unsuccessful.
“Walnut Creek Police Department officers located Mr. LeBlanc three blocks away from Mechanics Bank and arrested him,” prosecutors wrote in a petition to revoke LeBlanc’s supervised release.
