Five members of a Ju-Jitsu club were chosen for the Great Britain team to compete in the WCJJO World Championships.
Ryan McCaffrey fought superbly through a host of competitors to become the new World Champion, and Samantha Baron became Kuon Ji’s first ever Women’s Masters World Champion. In addition to the individual competitions, Max Robinson, Zac Robinson, Ryan McCaffrey and Simon Cowans were all selected to compete in the International Team event, in which Team GB came in Silver, with USA taking Gold and Australia Bronze.
Running alongside the World Championships, the Great Britain JuJitsu National Championships took place at the same venue. Silver medals were won by Poppy Aspden, 9, Darcie Currie, 10, Spencer Brandon, 14, Joseph Baron, 14, and Samantha Baron. Ryan McCaffrey continued the great weekend picking up two more Golds, as did Sophia Miller, who continued her winning streak for 2023 becoming the new GB National Champion.
