I’ve been a grump about the cold open for the bulk of President Biden’s presidency. Last night it jolted back to life, thanks to the show calling in Scarlett Johansson. Predictably, the open centered on President Biden’s State of the Union, with a quick pan to Heidi Gardner’s Marjorie Taylor Greene looking like an angry pimple in her harsh red regalia. But it took flight when Johansson appeared as Alabama Republican Senator Katie Britt.
Brolin was Count Kinnski, a Viennese man in 1893, who needed to marry well to hang onto his lifestyle. He told his gentlemen entourage that he believed his beloved shrimp art-installation-cum-appetizer, which he pitched as “the thinking man’s mozzarella sticks,” would be more than enough to win the hand of Sarah Sherman’s archduchess.
