The Londoner was beaten by Canelo in May but is ready for another huge fight.
John Ryder has confirmed talks to fight Jaime Munguia are underway and hopes their showdown can take place before the end of the year.
‘It is a fight I of course believe I can win and it is one that keeps me operating at the level I have been operating at. I don’t want to drop down levels.’Prior to the Canelo fight, Ryder positioned himself at the top of the 168lbs ranks with wins over Daniel Jacobs and Zach Parker as part of a fantastic run in 2022.
‘I am 35 now, I am not going to be at this forever,’ he continued. ‘I have probably got 12 to 18 months left in me at a push.‘But I still feel good, fresh in body and mind. I say I am putting a time scale on things but who knows, if you keep winning and getting the big fights you would be silly to retire. At the moment, I am seeing it fight-by-fight and I see the Munguia fight as a very winnable one.
Ryder has also not ruled out the possibility of a rematch against Billy Joe Saunders, whom he lost to on a points decision a decade ago. Saunders has not fought since his own defeat to Canelo,Canelo puts his titles on the line against another undisputed champion in Charlo
