Serial funnyman Joe Lycett recently found himself in hot water with the police after an audience member took umbrage with one of his jokes and reported him to the authorities
TV funnyman Joe Lycett has revealed he was recently investigated by the police after an audience member complained about one of his jokes during a standup gig.
Recalling the news of his brush with the law, Joe wrote: “So someone came to my tour show a few weeks back and was offended by one of the jokes.Although the report did require the comedian to provide a statement to clarify what he had said and why, Joe did speak highly of the police as he explained they were very nice about the situation.
“This involved me writing a statement explaining the context of the joke for them; I particularly enjoyed putting the words ‘giant donkey dick’ into a message to a police detective.Following the unusual complaint, Joe was quick to reassure fans that the joke would remain in his tour as he continues to perform around the country until September.
Well known for his stand-up routines which often included funny anecdotes about everything from scam emails to parking tickets, the star has also dabbled in presenting on both The Great British Sewing Bee and his very own consumer rights show Joe Lycett’s Got Your Back, where he takes on large corporations on behalf of members of the public.
