JUST IN: An aircraft went down in the trees surrounding Herlong Airport on Saturday and at least one person died, according to Jacksonville Fire and Rescue.
JFRD tweeted just before 2 p.m. that crews were responding to an area on Normandy Boulevard near the airport to a downed aircraft in the trees.
Crews have responded to the 8900 block of Normandy blvd to a downed aircraft in the trees…E32 advises this is a fatal accident.Multiple sources have indicated the crash involved a glider, which is a fixed-wing aircraft that typically does not have an engine.
