Jason Daniel Sparks of Leeds was initially charged with felony murder but pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of murder in the 2019 death of his 2-year-old nephew.
This week, Sparks pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of murder. He will be sentenced in Jefferson County court in early October.
Leeds police investigators received a call from hospital social workers that day stating that the boy was bleeding from the brain and most likely would not survive. They stated he had been abused and shaken.
