Jaykwon Walton, 21, was among two people arrested Saturday night“Alabama is no longer recruiting Jaykwon Walton and he will not be a student-athlete at The University of Alabama,” Coach Nate Oats said in a statement Monday evening, after news broke about Walton’s arrest.
Walton, who was a front seat passenger, informed an officer of a loaded firearm under his seat, Taylor said. Harris and Walton were both charged with second-degree possession of marijuana and released after posting $500 bond. The driver was released with no charges. Walton entered the NCAA transfer portal two games into the 2020-21 season, then enrolled at Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa.
In order to play immediately at Alabama this fall, Walton either would have needed to be a graduate transfer or be granted an NCAA waiver.
