Beyond acting, Joanna Fang made history in 2016 when she became the first transgender person to win a Primetime Emmy -- for Outstanding Sound Editing for Nonfiction Programming for her work on the documentary“To be on stage as my true self was deeply affirming. I didn’t win this award solely because I was trans, the voting was based on the merits of my team’s work. I just so happened to have my talent and reputation survive the coming out process,” Fang.
The 71st Primetime Emmy Awards will be handed out live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, Sept. 22 on Fox. Check out
