The House select committee investigating the January 6 attack has asked a lawyer representing parents of victims of the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting to hand over text messages and other phone data from right-wing conspiracy theorist Alex Jones.
Although Jones tried to blame his counsel for the lie, the texts were on his cell phone.that he appeared “visibly uncomfortable” during the examination, with “sweat running into his eyes and down his neck.”
The January 6 committee has a vested interest in Jones’s communications over the past two years because the InfoWars host was involved in much of the lead-up to the January 6 Capitol attack. Jonesthat the 2020 election had been stolen, urging his audience to disrupt the peaceful transfer of power to now-President Joe Biden. Jones is also closely associated with Stewart Rhodes, leader of the Oath Keepers, a far right extremist group that played an instrumental role in the attack.
