It’s an all hands on deck effort to make the bring the whimsical float design from fantasy to reality in time for New Year’s Day
On Jan. 2, Torrance’s dazzling Rose Parade float will glide effortlessly down Colorado Boulevard,. But getting the float to the finish line is anything but easy.
According to the Tournament of Roses, the cost of building a high quality float typically starts at $275,000.“We’re just desperate for decorators this year,” said Lynn Robinson, ways-and-means director of the Torrance Rose Float Association, a non-profit organization that produces the float. Upcoming decorating days will take place on Dec. 3 and every day from Dec. 27 to Dec. 31. The association provides buses to transport volunteers from Wilson Park to Fiesta Parade Floats in Irwindale and back.
