A popular bar and grill will close its doors this weekend.
55 Bar and Grill, which is located on Drymen Road in Bearsden, will close due to the"sheer amount of money required" to run the business.
In a post shared on Facebook, bosses said they"hate to walk away" but they need to 'think with their heads'.The post read:"We are posting to let everyone know we have made the difficult decision to close our doors this weekend."While it's breaking our hearts, we have to think with our heads."We have our new venture opening in February and would love for all our lovely loyal customers to visit us."and home deliveries.
The post continued:"Thanks everyone for being an amazing customer and we wish things were different but the current expenses are too high, even if we were full every day all day, it wouldn't be enough to cover them."One person wrote:"Oh my god we are absolutely gutted it’s one of the best places about and the staff are the nicest people we will miss yous so much."
Another person said:"So sorry to hear this, we've loved coming to 55 and the staff have always been amazing with the kids and so welcoming.A third person added:"Sorry to read this, you made it a great pub, fabAs part of a special investigation, we will be delving into the many closures plaguing the food and drink industry to find out what it means for our city.
As of January 18, the Glasgow Times has reported nine closures in the food and drink sector alone since the beginning of the year.Share
