“I set the tone for the day. I look in the mirror, I give myself eye contact [and say] ‘I’m Iskra, I’ve got this. I’m enough … I’m worthy.’”
But while the model is now a seasoned expert when it comes to posing for shoots and catwalks alike — having walked in several NYFW shows, in addition to modeling for the likes of Sports Illustrated over the years — she wasn’t always so calm behind the camera.
“I remember the first time I did a lingerie shoot, [and] I was very, very nervous, but I actually saw the pictures and I was really empowered,” she recalled.— the longtime body positivity advocate told us she’s feeling “even more confident” and standing for what she’s “always believed in, in a bigger way.”“Start to look at yourself in the mirror and give yourself kind words, encouraging words,” advises Lawrence.
“I think it is a lot of women behind the scenes in the fashion industry who are just fighting for each other and have been for a really long time. And finally, their voices are being heard.”
