The 2023 Netflix movie is the first film in the Spy Kids franchise in 12 years since 2011's Spy Kids: All the Time in the World, and as a result, the release focuses on a completely different family and a new pair of mischievous but genius spy kids.

However, Danny Trejo's Machete had the best chance of returning, as Trejo and director Robert Rodriguez are longtime collaborators.
No, Danny Trejo's Machete Isn't In Spy Kids: Armageddon Unfortunately, Trejo doesn't reprise his role as Machete in Spy Kids: Armageddon. The character is Juni and Carmen's uncle, so realistically, it doesn't actually make much sense if he were to return without the original Spy Kids. However, even though the character's absence makes sense in the context of the movie's narrative, it doesn't make the absence any less disheartening.
However, there's also a chance Machete could return in another way. In 2010, Rodriguez directed the R-rated Spy Kids spinoff Machete, which starred Trejo as the titular character. Three years later, the duo collaborated on an even more ambitious and outrageous sequel, Machete Kills. At the end of the sequel, a fake trailer for Machete Kills in Space played, and since then, audiences have been impatiently waiting for Machete Kills in Space to enter production.
