The opening event of the season is being hosted by West Belfast cycling club VC Glendale
West Belfast cycling club VC Glendale will kick-off the Irish CycloCross season with the first round of the National Series at Falls Park on September 17.
A club spokesperson said: "Falls Park will once again be the venue on what promises to be a great day’s racing, kicking off with a fun under 6’s race right through to Senior elite races on a 3km custom built course, featuring for the first time a scaffolding bridge. "CycloCross is a spectator friendly discipline, best described as a cross between road cycling and mountain biking with a healthy dose of running over obstacles, slipping and sliding through mud with the odd spectacular fall. Throughout the race, the riders will get muddier and muddier and it’s not unusual to see them getting power hosed down after the finish!"
