Owner Michael Levin is celebrating 50 years at the helm
One of the oldest jewellers in Nottingham is celebrating a landmark anniversary. Michael Levin Jewellers in Pelham Street has been serving people in the city for 50 years since it was bought by current owner Grenville Price.
"It's just evolved and I had my share of luck," he said. "It's something that you're always learning about, we're faced with so many simulants that we work hard to identify."The Mapperley Park resident added: "I wouldn't be doing it now if I didn't hold a certain amount of interest. I love serving people and I do like the trade, you become institutionalised in a way.
Over the years it has served the likes of Brian Clough, Barbara Windsor and Gary Lineker. It also featured at the beginning of Jake Bugg’s 2013 music video Slumville Sunrise, which was directed by Shane Meadows.
