'To put it in a nutshell, we do everything and anything we can to help people. We have general services like breakfast and lunch but also help people into education, help them find accommodation and make sure they're receiving the right benefits.'
The Lodging House Mission has over 100 years experience in helping disadvantaged people get their lives back on the right track.
"It can be really difficult for some people to get their head round these things which others might think are simple but are really hard for some people to access so we offer support. Since starting at the centre, June has implemented some changes to allow people visiting the centre to have a greater level of dignity. Five days a week there is a free hot breakfast, hot lunch and hot drinks on offer, with visitors previously queuing up at their kitchen hatch to be served their food.
But with recent price increases across the board, June and the rest of the staff are now worried about the people they care for as well as others in need who don't manage to make it to the centre.
