Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny only made $300 million, and it marks Harrison Ford's third legacy movie that's disappointed at the box office.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny bombed at the box office, which means that all three of Harrison Ford's major character exits have been disappointing. Indy had a definitive ending in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade by riding off into the sunset, and he had another definitive ending by marrying Marion and settling down in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
When the movie was finally released, its Rotten Tomatoes score did become "fresh," but the reception of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny still isn't great. The movie also struggled with major box office competition. As 2023 is such a stuffed year for movies, especially the summer, it has resulted in not just Indiana Jones 5 bombing, but tons of underperformances with Fast X and The Little Mermaid being just two of many examples.
Harrison Ford's Blade Runner Exit Also Bombed At The Box Office 2017's Blade Runner 2049 is the follow-up to 1982's Blade Runner and sees the return of Ford's Rick Deckard. However, unlike the new Indiana Jones movie, the sci-fi legacy sequel was a hit with critics, earning 88% on Rotten Tomatoes. Unfortunately, that wasn't enough for the movie to be successful, as the 2017 release made just $267 million .
