With the English Lionesses facing off against the Spanish team during today's Women's World Cup final the Neil Diamond hit Sweet Caroline will likely be heard all across the country.
It's believed that the song was played at the team's home stadium Fenway Park, after a member of staff welcomed a baby daughter called Caroline - with the stadium DJ then playing the song at a game in tribute to the new arrival. Sweet Caroline's sporting use then crossed the Atlantic and started being used by Aston Villa and Chelsea. It can also be heard at cricket matches, with fans singing it from the stands.
