But don’t be surprised if they’re already hard at work figuring out how to come out on top if there is one. In Los Angeles alone, some 150,000 people consider themselves employees of the motion picture or sound recording industries. Nearly 15,000 more identify as artists, writers, or performers, according to the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp. The same groupthat the last Hollywood strike cost the local economy more than $3 billion, including $772 million in lost wages.
