Iconic Blackburn pub to be converted into housing after planning application gets green light
The Stop and Rest in Brandy House Brow closed last year and the building was sold in March by Admiral Taverns as it did not have a ‘sustainable future’ as licensed premises.
A report by planning officer Nick Blackledge recommending approval with seven conditions says: “The application site relates to a vacant public house located to the south west of Brandy House Brow, at its junction with Park Lee Road, Blackburn. The building is accessed directly from the public footway.
“As a conversion to two semi-detached dwellings, the proposal is consistent with the policy requirement. A modest amount of outdoor space would be available for future occupants within the existing rear yard, sufficient to cater for the needs of householders including adequate external provision for domestic refuse bins.
