Nestle confirmed this week that it would stop making the bars after 64 years
Iceland has told its sweet-toothed customers to hurry if they want to snap up the last of Nestle's Caramac bars amid news the product is being discontinued.
Nestle said falling sales are behind its decision to stop producing the confectionery, which was launched in the UK in 1959 by original manufacturer Mackintosh. The firm said in a statement: “We are very sorry to disappoint fans of Caramac. There has been a steady decline in its sales over the past few years and unfortunately we had to make the difficult decision to discontinue it."
Iceland has reported a 191 per cent increase in sales of Caramac over the last week since the news was confirmed. The gold-coloured confectionery has been 'flying off shelves' according to the supermarket, and the retailer has told customers to hurry if they're after some.
