Senior Content Creator Ellen has been using a £12 moisturiser that's gone viral on social media, here are her thoughts
Having combination skin is probably one of the most annoying hurdles I’ve come up against when trying to figure out a skincare routine. Hitting the grand old age of 23 - several years ago, I may add - and a worldwide pandemic gave me a lot of time to focus on the things right in front of me. In this case, it was my face.
As someone whose face doesn’t agree with uber-creamy creams… I usually opt for a gel-based moisturiser. Which I find works as the best of both worlds for my combo-ridden face. For a number of years I used The Body Shop’s Tea Tree Mattifying Moisturiser before it became redundant. I liked the product so much I used its reincarnation, the Tea Tree In-Control Hydrator… this suffered the same fate. I dabbled with a free sample of Body Shop’s Seaweed Oil-Control Get Cream , before the entire range was pulled from the shelves. Maybe it was a sign of what was to come…
Niacinamide is my gold mine, and to keep my sometimes adolescent-prone skin at bay, it’s been a lifesaver. Byoma’s Moisturizing Gel Cream uses a Tri-Ceramide Complex of ceramides, cholesterol, fatty acids to help protect the skin’s barrier, helping to draw in and retain moisture in skin cells. At a time when the spots and blemishes on my face were out of control, I definitely noticed the presence of oil dial down, but not totally absent. It also made for a supple base for my make-up.
Byoma Moisturizing Gel Cream 50ml has an average 4.5 out of five star rating at Boots from 661 reviews. Maddie wrote: “I have had this for a few months, has cleared my skin. However I ran out of it so used a different moisturiser I already had, it completely broke my skin barrier gave me clogged pores and some acne, I re brought this a few days later and it’s been 4 days and my skin is REAPIRED the spots have gone flat and my pores have gone !!! I am so thankful for this product.
