Phillip Schofield's brother Timothy found guilty of sexually abusing a teenage boy
In a statement released by his lawyer after the conviction, Phillip Schofield said: “My overwhelming concern is and has always been for the wellbeing of the victim and his family. I hope that their privacy will now be respected.
“If any crime had ever been confessed to me by my brother, I would have acted immediately to protect the victim and their family. “These are despicable crimes, and I welcome the guilty verdicts. As far as I am concerned, I no longer have a brother.” The court last week heard evidence from the ITV presenter, who said in a witness statement that his brother had confessed to him that he had engaged in a sex act with a teenage boy in 2021 but “made it sound like a one-off”.
In the witness statement, Phillip Schofield said his brother had been on the verge of taking his own life, adding: “Tim was in an extreme state of agitation, and he said that he was on the verge of killing himself. He said his head was in a mess.”
